Auction Watch: Week of March 15, 2026
Week of March 15, 2026
A clean AP1 S2000 crosses $50K, an E46 M3 Competition goes unsold, and a surprise result for a high-mileage Mazdaspeed Miata.
Notable Sales
This week's standout was a 38,000-mile AP1 S2000 in Spa Yellow that hammered at $52,000 on Bring a Trailer. The car was a two-owner example with full service records and an unmodified drivetrain -- exactly the kind of provenance that commands top dollar in the current market. The result continues the upward trend we have tracked throughout early 2026.
The One That Got Away
A 2005 E46 M3 Competition in Interlagos Blue failed to meet its reserve at $38,500 on Cars and Bids. The seller was asking $45,000, which may have been optimistic for a car with 87,000 miles and a recent clutch replacement. Competition packages add value, but mileage still matters in the E46 M3 market. We expect this one to relist and sell in the low $40s.
Surprise Result
A 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata with 142,000 miles brought $18,500 -- a strong result for a high-mileage turbo Miata. The factory turbo cars are increasingly recognized as underproduced special editions, and this sale suggests the market is beginning to separate them from standard NB Miatas in a meaningful way.
